Announcing…The Progress Project!

The free market…allows people the opportunity to create jobs, expand the size of their business, and place risk on the line knowing that failure is an option. We will work hard to succeed, and enjoy the competition, to make things better, faster, and stronger!  Go Free Market!

On this site we will follow relevant news stories of the day, most particularly in Iowa, but we also are involved in other states.

The most fun feature here on The Progress Project site are the maps of the Iowa House and Iowa Senate on the home page. Click on a map, then click on a district, and a variety of relevant information is at your fingertips.  And well, if you do not know who your elected officials are…there is a link for you to find the answer!

Now, there are going to be times in the political races where we do not have all the information about who is running and who is not.  Please remember this site is NOT perfect, but we try our best to stay on top of the news…yet sometimes the newspaper does not post a story online therefore we do not get it.  If something is “not right”, shoot an email this way!  Keep it friendly too if you would, this is mainly an educational site, not a page for bashing banter.

So here is the process:

If you are running for state house or state senate office in Iowa to qualify to be on The Progress Project map you need three items and understand three notes:

1. As a candidate one has a formal announcement published by a news source.

2. File a DR-1 with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board.

3. If one does not make the Iowa Secretary of State qualifications to be a candidate, one will miss the cut here as well.

Note one: If you are an incumbent you are on the list; yet if you have sent a press release saying you are not seeking re-election in 2012, you are not on the map. Also, if an incumbent announces in a different district, you will only be listed in the new district.

Note two: After the Primary Election has occurred; only the people competing for the General Election will be listed.

And now note three:  We might get more excited about some candidates or races than others, it happens.

‘Follow’ the site, and come back often!     (This means we are on Facebook and Twitter.)
